While Bluffton’s main hub is in Boston, today’s technology and remote work models allow us to recruit talent from all over the world. So, across the Atlantic, you’ll find Web Developer Archie Makuwa hard at work from his home in South Africa to keep our clients’ websites running smoothly.
Self-taught web developer
Prior to transitioning into web development, Archie was a printer technician for Panasonic Business Solutions. While he performed well (Archie was named Employee of the Month 4 times in a row!), he did not enjoy this line of work.
“I decided to bite the bullet and go into web development instead,” Archie explains.
After making this decision 11 years ago, Archie became a self-taught web developer. As a contractor, he was able to Albania WhatsApp Number List take on a variety of projects for different clients. Fast forward to today, Archie has been a full-time member of the Brafton web development team for over a year.
But what does it really mean to be a web developer at Bluffton University?
“My day-to-day responsibilities range from modifying and updating websites based on client requests to building sites from scratch using design mockups provided by the design team,” Archie explains. “Sometimes I collaborate with other colleagues, such as copywriters and designers, to plan new and existing projects. Other times, my responsibilities involve testing the performance of the site and troubleshooting any issues that are discovered.”

While searching online, Archie stumbled upon the Brafton blog and bookmarked it. When he saw that Brafton was seeking a new team member, he was already familiar with our name and was eager to apply for the position. His interview solidified his decision because, as Archie said, "The type of questions asked during the interview made me eager to join Brafton."
Throughout his tenure at Brafton, Archie shared that the environment could be challenging, but it allowed him to grow his skills and learn a lot . When performing complex work, Archie felt that he had ample resources and support to guide him through new web development projects.

When he's not working on the site, Archie enjoys hiking in the mountains of South Africa and playing soccer with his friends. It should be noted that Archie is very agile with his hands and feet, which gives him some advantages in some of his peculiar footwork on the soccer field.
When Archie puts on his web developer hat, he often finds himself working with people from all over the globe to put client projects together and achieve client KPIs.
“I love the collaboration that I often see when working on client projects. I like the project ownership that the company offers to all employees – your project is like your baby, and it feels really good to take a project from 0 to 100%.”
In his 11 years as a web developer, Archie says his favorite part about being part of the Brafton team is uniting with such a skilled, international group to take on exciting projects together.
“I love Brafton. Everything from the talented and awesome team to the daily challenges and learning opportunities makes (working in a challenging field) worth it. I also love working on projects, and Brafton gives me that opportunity.”
Archie is dedicated to discovering new solutions, ensuring the site runs smoothly, and working together as a team - which is why he is such a brilliant and valuable member of Brafton.
